Free Consultation
Each project, from planting advice to a full design, begins with a free initial consultation at your home, where we look at your garden, discuss your requirements, and I get a sense of your lifestyle and tastes.
From there I will follow up by email with a proposal, setting out the stages of the project and associated fees.
If you are happy with the proposal, and once an initial deposit is paid, the work to create your dream garden will commence!
Masterplan
A garden design masterplan involves three main stages: Visual Communication, Concept Design, Masterplan.
- Visual Communication: I provide a mood board to give a sense of the feel of your garden, the materials and planting, to check we are on the same page.
- Concept Design: I provide a proposed layout for your garden, potentially with some options for discussion.
- Masterplan: Once you are happy with the Concept Design, I produce a finalised version, with the main details necessary to provide to a contractor to build, such as measurements and materials.

Project Management
Tender process
Once the masterplan design is complete, the construction of your garden will be undertaken by a third-party contractor.
Quotes for the build will need to be obtained from one or more landscape contractors. I can recommend a contractor and/or you can put forward your own contractor, and I will manage the tender process, asking the right questions and ensuring quotes are to the correct specification.
Project management of the build
Project management of the build involves me visiting the site regularly during construction and corresponding with the landscapers, ensuring that the design is built to the specification shown on the plan, and dealing with any unforeseen issues that may arise, allowing you to concentrate on your day-to-day life.
planting design
Once your new garden is built, or if you have an area of your existing garden you would like to update, I can design the planting. The stages of this process are:
- Planting concept - I put together a mood board of the types of plants to be included and the feel of the planting
- Planting plan - I set out a plan specifying where plants should go, and write up a schedule of the number of each plant required, to send to the nursery
- I obtain quotes and availability from nurseries, agree substitute plants where necessary, hand pick key trees, and arrange delivery of all plants
- Depending on the size of the job, the planting out may be done by myself, the contractor, or both.
